I waited over a year to finally play this game only to be let down. Alone from the saving issues the load game and save game took 10 minutes each time (near the end of the game) and I don't know if this was due to size of files or just poor dev /xbox servers where it was saving the files? I really did try and the game has major issues on Xbox One. Sadly, I won't get to see how the game ends… the devs obviously don't care at this point as they have moved on to the DLC plus they will not get my purchase of the DLC when it comes out on Xbox because of all this. Why the hell didn't the devs allow for manual saving to local drive, makes no damn sense to me.
If you develop your game using persistent online saving, you MUST make sure it always works. Remember this is the 3rd time this has happened in the game and it was the final straw. Well that isn't right, I logged out last night at 12:30am. When I saved last night I was at 1250m at my new lava base.
Saved file from 6pm… and I was back at 81m at my main base. Next night (last night) rolls around and I sit down to play and load up the game and save. The next time I was going to go into the castle and discover my fate. Finished for the night (I have manually saved over 4 times in this 6 hour period (and it showed successful). I knew the direction to the Lava Castle and knew the close to me path to the lava underworld section. Surrounded by enemies and cache nodes, ready with my decked out Prawn. I was in a good place in the Inactive Lava Zone. Setup up a new base and was fully functional.
The final straw was this – I spent all day prepping my sub to head down into the nether world… I painfully made it down there. I go in the next day and realize I lost 6 hours of work/play. Subnautica on Xbox has some serious save game bugs.ģ times I have lost saves because when it said it saved it never did. Let me preface this with the fact I have tried numerous times, lost over 18 hours in 3 different saves and attempted to keep going.
